Advice when you hate work and love church
November 1st, 2009
Hello:
Just advised a lovely couple from the heartland of our great country, who like a lot of us,
are not currently living their dream. At a point a while ago, they decided to go beyond their
comfort zone geographically, for the potential of great financial success, and now of course,
not only is not panning out, but they are miserable. So sorry for them!!
But one of the things I heard the young woman say, was something to the effect of “I hate
work and the people stink,” and she also complained that work sucked so much time including
her commute, that she could not go to church much.
After thinking about that for a while, I realized that it’s possible her attitude about work
could change in such a way that more loving relationships could form there. Now I know
some people are just impossible, and the stress at work can be intolerable, but the concept
that you could become more loving at work for all those hours, and attract better outcomes
there. You might still miss church, but you might also feel much better about it.
What would Jesus do?

The Same But Different
October 25th, 2009
We get so many requests from people who are hurt, it’s very disconcerting.
Buddhist teachings say life is suffering, and it really is true most of the time.
But, some things make suffering worse. If you are feeling sad or angry, try
not to interact with others so they will also feel sad or angry. Instead, spend
a few minutes breathing, and loving yourself, then find some way to lovingly
ask your trusted friend or loved one to listen as you share your feelings. It’s
important they let you finish, and not answer you, but just understand you.
Again, try not to lay any blame, just share how you feel, and what you need,
and perhaps they can say: “I understand.” Maybe they will also hug you. That
is compassionate listening, a big part of love. It really helps, and it sets the tone for a better relationship.

Our Narrow Minds Against The Wonderful Wide World
September 25th, 2009
From the all the advice we have given over the years at Honest Answer and Skyboard, etc., I notice some pretty incredible similarities.
Most everyone who’s trouble by something, is looking at it through a cloudy and narrow lens. We all had our own circumstances,
people around us, and coping mechanisms in our lives. Trouble is, we create our world view, and our relationship habits from these,
and not too many of us open up to changing them. I do the same thing in my life.
For example, if someone had mom take REALLY good care of them growing up, they might assume they are a worthwhile person, as
long as mom is there to take care of them. Well, we grow up, and mom’s not there anymore, and eventually, mom passes on. We need
to find ways to grow, and to keep our relatives near and dear to us, but to have habits that work to keep us healthy, happy and productive.
Here are three tips to help you open up to what’s new, different, and more effective for you:
1. Eat brown rice, and chew it 25-50 times per bite (not just once, but 1-2 times per week, every week, FOREVER)
Believe it or not, this really works. It is food that helps your body find balance, and you focus on things that matter. Try it!
2. Do affirmations. If you want to be a happy, healthy person, then repeat every day, once, twice or ten times, “I am a happy, healthy person,
and getting better every day.”
This is well documented. We program ourselves, and sometimes cut ourselves a bad deal. No more, now that you know!
3. Use HonestAnswer.net
Yes, this is a plug, but the fact is we are not doing this for the money, we’re doing it to help people like you. Try it out, and send your friends and family as well.
